La chanteuse de NIGHTWISH, Floor Jansen, a révélé ce mercredi 26 octobre qu’elle souffrait d’un cancer du sein dans un message sur les réseaux sociaux.
"A letter to you,
Life comes in waves, with ups and downs.
I have had the joy of riding many highs, and I have shared these with you through social media and the many many shows worldwide throughout the many years of my career.
But now a new wave hit me. Not a good one. I have breast cancer. It was diagnosed a little over 2 weeks ago and I will have surgery tomorrow to remove the tumor. My prognosis is very good!!! It seems to be a non-aggressive cancer, which seems to not have spread. I will keep my breast. And I will be cancer free after this surgery, plus a local radiation treatment that will take place three months after this surgery, hopefully. We will know more after the surgery to see if this positive prognosis stands.
The word cancer is a shocker. All that you found important in life before this diagnosis changes radically within minutes. Now I just want to be healthy again. I want to see my daughter grow into a woman; I want to live! And the scariest part of this diagnosis is that I thought I was healthy! I didn’t feel the cancer, I didn’t know it was there until I, as a 40+ woman, went to a standard mammogram checkup. Something many countries offer, for free even for the lucky ones.
Had I not gone there, the tumor would have gone undetected. In a year from now this could have grown much bigger. The thought of that makes me share this story with you. A mammogram is lifesaving! It’s uncomfortable and you might think that you won’t have something in your breasts anyway but GO! And for the men reading this: remind your wife, girlfriend, mother, sister to go and get checked. Even without the luxury I as a western woman experience with free mammogram checkups: GO! Luckily, there are many organizations that offer information about self-detection if you do not have access or funds for a mammogram.
If I might inspire you to take good care of yourself, then something good will come out of this cancer diagnosis.
If all goes as planned, I will be up and running in time for the European tour with Nightwish, that will start on the 20th of November! And I am optimistic since my prognosis is good! I promise to take good care of myself.
I will be off the grid for a while to focus on myself.

La vie vient par vagues, avec des hauts et des bas.
J'ai eu la joie de monter de nombreux hauts, et je les ai partagés avec vous à travers les médias sociaux et les nombreux spectacles dans le monde entier tout au long de ma carrière.
Mais maintenant une nouvelle vague m'a frappé. Pas un bon. J'ai un cancer du sein. Il a été diagnostiqué il y a un peu plus de 2 semaines et je serai opéré demain pour enlever la tumeur. Mon pronostic est très bon !!! Il semble qu'il s'agisse d'un cancer non agressif, qui semble ne pas s'être propagé Je vais garder mon sein. Et je serai sans cancer après cette opération, plus un traitement local de radiothérapie qui aura lieu trois mois après cette opération, espérons-le. Nous en saurons plus après l'opération pour voir si ce pronostic positif tient.
Le mot cancer est un choc. Tout ce que vous avez trouvé important dans la vie avant que ce diagnostic ne change radicalement en quelques minutes. Maintenant je veux juste être en bonne santé à nouveau. Je veux voir ma fille grandir en femme ; je veux vivre ! Et la partie la plus effrayante de ce diagnostic, c'est que je pensais être en bonne santé ! Je n'ai pas ressenti le cancer, je ne savais pas qu'il était là jusqu'à ce que, en tant que femme de plus de 40 ans, je passe à un bilan mammographique standard. Quelque chose que beaucoup de pays offrent, gratuitement même pour les chanceux.
Si je n'y étais pas allé, la tumeur serait passée inaperçue. Dans un an, cela aurait pu devenir beaucoup plus grand. La pensée de ça me fait partager cette histoire avec vous. Une mammographie, c'est sauver la vie ! C'est inconfortable et vous pourriez penser que vous n'aurez rien dans vos seins de toute façon mais GO ! Et pour les hommes qui lisent ceci : rappelez à votre femme, petite amie, mère, sœur d'aller se faire examiner. Même sans le luxe que j'expérimente en tant que femme occidentale avec des examens de mammographie gratuits : ALLEZ ! Heureusement, il y a de nombreuses organisations qui offrent des informations sur l'autodétection si vous n'avez pas accès ou les fonds pour une mammographie.
Si je peux vous inspirer à prendre bien soin de vous, alors quelque chose de bien sortira de ce diagnostic de cancer.
Si tout se passe comme prévu, je serai opérationnelle à temps pour la tournée européenne avec Nightwish, qui débutera le 20 novembre ! Et je suis optimiste puisque mon pronostic est bon ! Je promets de prendre bien soin de moi.
Je serai hors réseau pendant un certain temps pour me concentrer sur moi-même.
