Le guitariste new-yorkais Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake et Trans Siberian Orchestra) est également connu pour son travail avec Cher, Night Ranger, la comédie musicale Rock of Ages à Broadway, ses collaborations avec Foreigner et Accept, ses concerts annuels sur le Monsters of Rock Cruise, ses projets d'enregistrement tels que Revolution Saints et Iconic, ses vidéos virales en collaboration avec Dino Jelusick, Arnel Pineda, Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan et ses concerts acoustiques avec Brandon Gibbs.
Doté d'un talent certain pour l'enseignement de la musique, il a également été chroniqueur régulier pour le magazine Guitar World, a enseigné au Musician's Institute, au Rockstars of Tomorrow, au Guitar Workshop Plus et a souvent été conseiller au Rock N' Roll Fantasy Camp.
Joel a sorti trois albums solo instrumentaux et trois albums avec son projet parallèle Joel Hoekstra's 13.
Plus récemment, il a été guitariste invité dans Dancing with the Stars (épisode Hair Metal) et a joué avec Cher lors de son intronisation au Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
