Hello!
I´ve got to say that I don´t agree Tonyb... I think Requiem is a very good album and I really like the lead singer! He can sing soft or hard, he really transmites feelings, which is an important virtue for a singer...
I found this album reading this review:

and I bought it at the moment. When I first opened the album I fall in love with the design: about twenty libretto pages with awesome photos and all the lyrics (in Spanish), a very interesting design for a band´s first album (I think it is their debut, but I´m not sure). I played the first CD and I listened to it reading the lyrics, it talks about the death of a girl and his boyfriend loneliness after her death, the second CD is a fight between the boy and his own Faith...all the feelings that a person have when his true love has died. It is a really emotive work!
I´m sure that Tonyb didn´t talk about this things because he can´t speak Spanish, it´s very important to totally love this work understand the lyrics as in a Broadway´s musical .
About the music: as a classical musician I found in Requiem a lot of elements from classical music. The composer (Jose Carbalido), treats the choir as a classical composer would do: four parts, and all the melodies perfectly conducted; some parts are polyphonic, others are homophonic... always searching for a surprising harmony, and with really interesting dissonances. I found curious that the choir plays the part of God (lyrics in Spanish) and Death (lyrics in German). The work is plenty of odd time signatures and instrumental parts. I liked very much the mix between the Spanish guitar and the electric combo in "Oración" and "Despertar"... in some parts I can see some flamenco influences, but with a hard instrumental base. The flute is always awesome, I´m sure that the flute player has received classical education, his sound is clean and the melodies flow through the work. Drums and bass are powerfull as needed in a work like this.
As I said, I think Requiem is a very good work, it will be loved by all those people who enjoy complex music and are looking for new auditive experiences.
Ciao!!
